Are you eating enough fat? Yes, fat. Despite what generations of health science has beaten into us over the last fifty years or so, humans thrive on high-fat, low-carb diets. Millions of people around the world have discovered that a ketogenic lifestyle is the key to weight loss, disease prevention and intervention, and a more vibrant life, along with a slimmer waistline, elimination of cravings, and endless energy. Gone are the days when counting calories—or points!—was seen as the path to better health.

Craig and Maria Emmerich have teamed up to write a book that digs deep into the science of ketogenic dieting, explaining how it can cure or control dozens of diseases and how it is fueling a new breed of athlete. All this is done in an easy-to-understand way that makes the complicated science much more approachable.

Keto is the definitive guide to the ketogenic lifestyle. Inside, you’ll learn

How you can beat cancer, obesity, metabolic syndrome, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, ADHD, anxiety, and depression into submission by making some simple yet impactful changes to your diet. How cholesterol and diabetes medications could very well be making you sicker rather than healthier. How generations of bad advice—advice designed to sell sugar, not health—has killed millions of people who blindly trusted the medical establishment and, worse still, the government to tell them the truth. How the overconsumption of carbohydrates is bad for your health and could be at the root of what ails you. How changing your inputs—the foods you eat—can change your outputs, meaning your quality of life. How our bodies really work, including detailed explanations of oxidative priority, fat flux, and lipolysis. This science is explained in such a way that everyone can understand how our bodies really process what we put into them.  How inflammation is at the root of many diseases and how modern diets that are full of sugar, carbs, and omega-6 oils are sending us to early graves. How hormones control our moods, sex drive, blood sugar levels, muscle tone, fat-burning ability, metabolism, immune system, and much more—and how adopting a ketogenic lifestyle will change your waistline and your life! How to stock your pantry with the right foods and put together meal plans that are delicious and easy to follow. These are the pathway to a longer, healthier life. How a low-carb, high-fat diet can help you build muscle and perform at your best. No, we’re not making that up! Which are the most nutrient-dense foods to feed our cells the vitamins and minerals they need. How to sort through the conflicting information about what a ketogenic diet is and distinguish fact from fiction. This book dispels the myths and clears up all the confusion!

So, enjoy that slab of bacon. Gnaw on that rib bone. And say no to that plate of “heart-healthy” pasta. New York Times bestselling author Maria Emmerich and her husband, Craig Emmerich, are going to take you on a journey to a new life—one that helps you lose weight, build muscle, and live the way nature intended you to live!

Truly a Complete Guide to Success! I started following a ketogenic diet about 7 months ago. I lost 15 pounds quite quickly, but then I started to feel… off. Without going into details, I’ll simply say that last month it got to the point where I was starting to think something was seriously wrong and was researching doctors. Then I was given the opportunity to read this book.I’ve been researching the ketogenic diet for quite awhile so when I started this book, I was a little skeptical that there was anything else I could learn. I was wrong. Craig and Maria have done a wonderful job breaking down the science in a way that’s easy to understand. Their knowledge and experience show you how to be successful on keto and how to break through plateaus so you can achieve your health goals. This isn’t a “this is how keto works for me and my body so it should work for you too” book, it’s a “this is how the human body works, how keto affects the human body, and how you can be successful with keto all…

So thankful to have the information in this book!! After receiving Keto Comfort Foods as a gift from a friend that knew we were “doing Keto,” I was inspired to get this “how” and “why” book to get back on track. First, I just love the recipes in the Comfort Foods book—every one we’ve tried has been a big hit. So I’m planning to get more of her recipe books—they all look awesome! The “Dairy-Free” and “Restaurant Favorites” are next on my list.Back to this book, though! We pretty much figured out how to live a Keto lifestyle from the internet and Pinterest. Some good things happened and we knew we were on the right track, BUT THIS BOOK PUTS IT ALL TOGETHER! It also deals with the misguided information we had randomly collected and now we are on track with the science and recipes to support our efforts! Honestly, one of the things that drew me to Maria’s books and perspective was that she is so lean herself! Not “skinny” but very lean with no extra fat at all. I don’t need to lose a bunch of weight and my husband doesn’t either,…
